What a wonderful and intense start to our academic year!
It was fantastic to welcome the pupils back after their summer holidays. The U3 students’ earlier start helped them settle and familiarise themselves with the College facilities in a calm way and they very quickly began to confidently manage the school day.

2023 has started a journey of success. As you all know January is a special month in our school as we celebrate when we first opened our doors 147 years ago.

The month of December has been full of Christmas spirit. Our students have given their best in class these weeks with the last effort before the holidays both in class and participating in all the events and celebrations. They have excelled in the different creative and artistic activities such as the Nativity Scenes Competition or the photography course, as well as in the fundraisers that have helped the most vulnerable to enjoy the most special days of the year.

We started with Mocks, the days have become shorter and “wet breaks”are becoming part of our weekly routines. Our pupils have not only coped but thrived and continued to embrace school life to the full. Our students have enjoyed their experiences outside of school with the U3 residential trip, as well as European trips for sport and cultural development. Alongside the Evita rehearsals, over 100 co-curricular activities are now well established throughout the week.

Friends we meet at school always hold a special place in our lives. With them we share tons of fun, as well as our first difficulties. We grow up together making a huge influence on each other. Finding a true friendship is like finding a treasure, sometimes it requires time and perseverance, but others it is just a matter of seconds and luck to have that special connection. This is the case for Harriet and Phoebe, who in this video share how they met each other and their favourite things in the Prep.

Last Tuesday, Prep celebrated Language Day with a World Song Contest. In just three weeks the children learned a song in a foreign language. The first ones to hit the stage were Prep 1, representing Germany with the German version of Baby Shark. Next up were Prep 2 and Prep 3 representing Colombia; who sang ‘Colombia, Mi Encanto’ from the Disney Movie.

Over the past months we have engaged with our pupils, parents and staff to plan our next five-year strategy. I am extremely grateful to first of all our staff, who have engaged with the vision and work tirelessly in making the future plan. Secondly I want to mention the parents who were able to come in person to the workshops we organised to share their concerns and ideas, and then our pupils who took part in the survey.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was in every respect ‘our Monarch’. In this time of national grief we also give thanks that we have had the privilege of Her Majesty as our Queen – a constant pillar of leadership, courage, compassion, determination and above all service.
