Bedians: Committed to Helping Others

Bedians: Committed to Helping Others

Unfortunately, in our day and age, it is increasingly difficult to find people who help others without expecting anything in return. The value of service has become obsolete for many and has been displaced by self-interest and selfishness. However, in education we have a great opportunity to teach our children and young people the importance of sharing, empathising and being agents of change.

We firmly believe that before committing ourselves to others, it is important to commit to ourselves, to be grateful for what we have so that we can then give ourselves to others with genuine generosity. At St. Bede’s we have witnessed the altruistic spirit of our students and we are proud that many of them take the initiative in organising charity events and taking action to help people in real need.

The aid to Ukraine and the hours spent volunteering through the DofE programme are just a small sample of the positive impact our students are able to make. The world needs people who are committed and inspiring; at St. Bede’s we are very fortunate to have them.
