Religion

The Religious Studies Department is a well-respected and ambitious department. The aim of the department is for all students to have the opportunity to achieve academically as well as to enjoy the subject and to develop their thinking skills. We want our pupils to be creative, individual and independent learners.

Pupils will study a variety of different religious concepts and ideas, from biblical study to Philosophy and Ethics. Answering questions such as ‘Who was Jesus?’, ‘Is Prayer important?’, ‘Can we learn anything from the Holocaust?’

Pupils study basic concepts such as truth and existence, and we look at how people believe they should behave and why they believe this. Currently, pupils predominately study Christianity throughout the school and study Judaism and Islam in their third year.
All pupils sit a GCSE examination in Religious Studies.
