Friends we meet at school always hold a special place in our lives. With them we share tons of fun, as well as our first difficulties. We grow up together making a huge influence on each other. Finding a true friendship is like finding a treasure, sometimes it requires time and perseverance, but others it is just a matter of seconds and luck to have that special connection. This is the case for Harriet and Phoebe, who in this video share how they met each other and their favourite things in the Prep.
Our first external careers event of the year took place on Wednesday 5th October when recruiters and current apprentices from Virgin Media (IT, business, digital media) and AJ Bell (financial services) gave talks in the Sixth Form Common Room.
The often costly task of limiting the presence of technology can be turned into a game with St. Bede's mobile phone parking.
Last Tuesday, Prep celebrated Language Day with a World Song Contest. In just three weeks the children learned a song in a foreign language. The first ones to hit the stage were Prep 1, representing Germany with the German version of Baby Shark. Next up were Prep 2 and Prep 3 representing Colombia; who sang ‘Colombia, Mi Encanto’ from the Disney Movie.
It can be quite a challenge to educate our children to make proper use of technology and move safely in the digital environment. Here you have three apps for online safeguarding.
Over the past months we have engaged with our pupils, parents and staff to plan our next five-year strategy. I am extremely grateful to first of all our staff, who have engaged with the vision and work tirelessly in making the future plan. Secondly I want to mention the parents who were able to come in person to the workshops we organised to share their concerns and ideas, and then our pupils who took part in the survey.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was in every respect ‘our Monarch’. In this time of national grief we also give thanks that we have had the privilege of Her Majesty as our Queen - a constant pillar of leadership, courage, compassion, determination and above all service.
Reading for pleasure is not just fun, it is the greatest indicator of our children’s future success.
There was a sense of excitement in the air this morning at St Bede’s as our Upper Sixth students returned to collect their A Level results; there were many happy faces as our Bedians had their future pathways confirmed. They are ready to embark upon life at university in the UK and abroad, as well as apprenticeships and gap years.
