Over half the cohort of Lower Fifth and Upper Fifth pupils were fascinated by a diverse and dynamic performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ on Tuesday evening at the Royal Exchange in Manchester.
The modern setting and the casting of both Macbeth and Duncan as women intrigued and to some degree confused the pupils, but the intense physicality of the performance and the original presentation of key scenes made this an unforgettable experience. Indeed, even for those members of staff present who have seen countless productions of the play, there was much to speak about at the interval and afterwards, with our enthusiastic and engaged pupils.
