VAT Increase on Fees

On the 1st January 2025, the Government introduced a 20% VAT on independent school fees. Rather than passing the full amount onto families, the College initially reduced the basic fee, limiting the overall increase to just 2%. As a result, the termly fee currently stands at £4,887.17 (inclusive of VAT) for the College and £3,497.58 (inclusive of VAT) for the Prep.

From September 2025, the School will introduce a further adjustment, increasing fees by 16% (of which 2% is the standard inflationary rise) to help offset some of the VAT cost. We want to provide as much in advance notice as possible to help families plan accordingly. This means that from September 2025, the annual fees will be:

• £17,007 (inclusive of VAT) for the College

• £12,172 (inclusive of VAT) for Prep

We have made every effort to reduce our underlying fees wherever possible in order to shield parents from the full impact of the Government’s VAT increase. School meals will remain optional for all year groups.

We understand these are challenging times, and the College remains committed to supporting our families. In addition to VAT, we have also absorbed rising business rates and National Insurance costs. Despite these pressures, our priority remains the provision extraordinary opportunities for our pupils while operating as a not-for-profit institution.

Looking ahead, January 2026 marks the College’s 150th Anniversary—a milestone we are excited to celebrate with you. We will soon be sharing a calendar of events to mark the occasion, and we hope you will join us in expressing our gratitude to Manchester for allowing us to serve this wonderful community for so many years.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Xavier Bosch

Chair of the Board of Trustees

Public Examination Fees

The fees for public examinations (GCSE, AS and A2 levels) are included within the tuition fees. Resits will incur an extra charge. Any extra-curricular activities such as private music lessons, trips and visits, in which you agree your child may participate, will also be charged in addition to fees.

Notice of pupil leaving. If you wish to:

a). Withdraw your child from the College other than at the normal leaving date; or

b). Withdraw your child from the College before the child actually starts at the College

You shall either give a term’s notice, in writing to the Headteacher or Head of Prep, to that effect or shall pay to the College a term’s fees in lieu of notice, at such rate as would have been charged for the final term of provision if a term’s notice had been given. In cases where notice is not given, the appropriate sum in lieu of notice will become due and owing to the College as a debt on the first day of the term which would have been the final term of provision if a term’s notice had been given.

You acknowledge that the College’s affairs are organised on a termly basis and that it is not possible for you to reduce the amount of fees due or to obtain a refund of fees by withdrawing your child or by your child’s ceasing to participate in an activity part-way through a term.
