A Level Physical Education

A Level Physical Education is a multi-disciplinary subject which covers a wide variety of topics associated with the world of sport and physical activity. As well as learning about Anatomy and Physiology, students also have the opportunity to study sports psychology, the history of sport and contemporary issues in Sport.
Studying this course will give you a fantastic insight into the amazing world of sports performance. During the two years you will study the reasons why people take part in sport and why some outperform others – mentally and physically. You will also explore current sports topics, such as the ethical considerations behind the use of drugs and the influence of modern technology on physical activity and sport. Overall, this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge for both specialist courses and higher education, as well as employment opportunities.

Eduqas A-Level Physical Education
All assessment takes place at the end of Upper Sixth
Examination component (worth 70%) involves:
Two written examinations both 2 hours each
• Paper 1: Exploring concepts in Physical Education – 35%
• Paper 2: Evaluating Physical Education – 35%
Practical Non-exam assessment (worth 30%) involves:
• Students are assessed in one practical element as either a player/performer or a coach (15%)
• Written coursework involving analysis and evaluation of personal performance (15%)
