Celebrating 150 Years of Reading
Mrs Becky Lyons – College Librarian
To celebrate World Book Day and commemorate our school’s founding in 1876, we launched launch our 150th Anniversary Reading Challenge.
In honor of this milestone, we have set an ambitious goal: we are challenging every House to read 150 books this year. During our World Book Day festivities, pupils officially signed their personal pledges, committing to the number of books they intend to read to help their House reach the target. It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for literacy and their collective House spirit!
We look forward to sharing updates on their progress throughout the term.
World Book Day wouldn’t be complete without our annual Big Bookish Quiz, and this year did not disappoint! The library was buzzing at lunchtime as pupils teamed up to put their literary knowledge to the ultimate test.
From decoding stories in the Emoji Round to identifying famous characters in the Picture Round, the competition was fierce. We are thrilled to announce that our winning team achieved a perfect score—a feat that proves our students are true bookworms! It was a wonderful atmosphere and a brilliant way to celebrate the magic of reading.
