Upper Third Christmas Panto Brings Creativity and Community Together
Mrs Michaela Parker – Assistant Head of City Football Academy
The Upper Third Christmas Panto was a hugely enjoyable event that brought pupils together to celebrate creativity, teamwork and festive spirit. For the day, pupils were taken off their normal timetable to take part in a lively “play in a day” event.

Working in their houses — Bosco, Campion, Magdalene and Siena — pupils were supported by their Heads of House: Miss Charlesworth, Mrs Gibb, Mr Wilson and Mr Henderson. Each house rehearsed a Christmas pantomime based on Mr Dickson’s festive scripts, giving pupils the opportunity to collaborate, perform and make the most of their individual strengths.
All Upper Third Manchester City Academy players were fully involved in the event, stepping away from both lessons and training sessions for the day. Their participation demonstrated a strong commitment to the wider school community and reflected the inclusive nature of the event.

The day was designed to encourage further mixing across the year group and acted as a final transition activity for new pupils. Throughout the day, pupils showed enthusiasm and positivity, forming new friendships and strengthening existing ones in a relaxed and supportive environment.
The event ended with performances from each house, all of which were met with loud applause and plenty of festive cheer. True to pantomime tradition, there was some friendly and good-natured rivalry between Houses, adding to the fun atmosphere. Magdalene House was ultimately named the overall winner, in recognition of their creativity, teamwork and entertaining performance.
A huge thank you goes to all pupils for their commitment, enthusiasm and positive attitude throughout the day. Thanks are also extended to the Heads of House and the Performing Arts Team for their hard work, which ensured the event ran so smoothly. The Upper Third Christmas Panto was a great success and a fitting way to celebrate the festive season, while promoting confidence, collaboration and a strong sense of community across the year group.
