Remembrance 2025
Alasdair Power – Head of Classics, History & Politics

On 11th November, we came together as a College to show our gratitude to all those who gave their lives during the two World Wars and other conflicts. Our theme this year, to mark the eightieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War, was ‘Victory Together’ which also paid tribute to the contribution of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Our Head Boy and Girl led us in paying tribute to the eight Old Bedians who fell during 1945 whilst Mr Fletcher arranged poignant and exquisitely-performed music from our Orchestra and Chamber Choir. As a special tribute to the Commonwealth of Nations, thirty-five students from across all year groups took part in a Commonwealth procession, each carrying a national flag. The procession was awash with vibrant colour and was a beautiful display of gratitude to all who served alongside Britain.
St Bede’s has always marked Remembrance with a deep sense of gratitude and love. It sets us apart as a College and gives our young people a strong sense of shared heritage, helping them to forge emotional links with those who came before.
