Primary Mathematics Challenge 2026

30 Mar, 2026 | Bede's News

Mrs Catherine Harrison – Deputy Head of the Prep

After the Primary Mathematics Challenge in November, a Mathematical Association competition undertaken by thousands of children nationally, seven of the Prep School’s top mathematicians were among the top 3,100 pupils who were invited to participate in the challenge’s Bonus Round in February.

It is a huge achievement to be selected for the final, so many congratulations go to Francisco for reaching the final, and to Kyra-May, who achieved a Bronze award.

Theo, still only in Prep 5, and Prep 6’s Orla and Sylvie-Rose, were delighted with their Silver awards, which indicated that they were amongst the top one thousand competitors.

Toby and William, however, managed to go one better and were awarded the most prestigious Gold award, an incredible feat and a well-deserved accolade achieved by only 312 pupils in the whole country!

Well done to all the pupils for their outstanding mathematical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
