Prep Trip to Marbury Park

Prep 3 Explore Marbury Park

Miss Eleanor Harrison – Prep 4 Teacher and Prep Science coordinator

On 21st November, Prep 3 visited Marbury Park as part of their science work on living things and their Bedian Rangers outdoor learning curriculum.

The day began in the bird hide overlooking Budworth Mere, where the children enjoyed spotting a range of birds. They were especially pleased to see a kingfisher and a heron, which helped bring their learning about local wildlife to life.

After birdwatching, the pupils explored the different tree species in the park. They took bark rubbings to record the textures and patterns in their sketchbooks, helping them understand how trees can be identified.

The trip ended with a session of den building. The children used logs, branches and leaves to create their own den and thoroughly enjoyed the activity, along with the chance to play in the autumnal leaves. Although the weather was cold, everyone stayed warm and appreciated a cup of hot Vimto before heading back to school.

The visit gave Prep 3 a valuable opportunity to observe seasonal changes, explore nature first-hand, and build on their scientific understanding in a practical and enjoyable way.
