Prep 6 boys’ AJIS report

The Prep 6 boys took part in the AJIS qualifying tournament on a wet and testing November afternoon at Brantingham Road. Despite being depleted by illness, the team showed determination and effort throughout a demanding set of fixtures. The boys’ first game was a close contest, with the team battling hard but eventually falling 3–2 to Rossall. They faced strong opposition in their second match against Bolton school (last year’s AJIS winners), beginning with a 4–1 defeat, but they responded well in their final match, pushing King’s Macclesfield all the way before narrowly losing 2–1. Although results didn’t go our way, the players displayed resilience, teamwork, and a positive attitude throughout the afternoon. Their efforts mean they will now compete in the AJIS Plate competition in February, where they will look to build on this experience and show their continued improvement.

Prep 6 Girls’ Futsal Report

The Prep 6 girls put in a superb performance at their futsal tournament, showing grit, teamwork, and real determination throughout the day. With no substitutes available and a debutant goalkeeper stepping up for the entire event, the team faced every challenge head-on. Special thanks to Jimena for playing in goal! In the group stage, the girls were superb—winning three of their four games and playing with great energy despite having no rest between matches. One of the highlights came when Orla produced a brilliant hat-trick, showcasing her skill and composure in front of goal. Their strong group performance earned them a place in the 3rd/4th place play-off, where they faced a tough West Didsbury side. After a tight match, the game went to penalties, and despite their best efforts, the girls were narrowly beaten.

Hockey

The boys’ hockey team had a return fixture against Cheadle Hulme. Two boys’ teams played on a bitterly cold Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, we did not win the matches, but we did compete better and scored more goals than in the previous match. The A team lost 3-1, and the B team lost 4-2. It was great to see our two GKs, voted by the opposition, as Players of the Match. This was so pleasing as we have done a lot of work with them both during after-school practice. Well done to Alvaro and Bene.

The last training session of the term was great fun, lots of Christmas cheer and Christmas outfits to finish off the year. Well done to all those who regularly attend, still lots of spaces if anyone from Prep 4,5 or 6 would like to give hockey a try.
