Prep 6 AJIS Quiz 2026

30 Mar, 2026 | Bede's News

Mrs Catherine Harrison – Deputy Head of the Prep

On Saturday, 7th March, six Prep 6 pupils joined other students from all over the North West to represent St Bede’s Prep in the prestigious annual AJIS Quiz at Bury Grammar School.

Nine taxing rounds and two mini-marathons took place during the course of the morning, with topics as diverse as identifying statues, letters of the alphabet, and symbols on a map. The pupils were challenged further by solving mathematical emojis and identifying close-up images of weird and wonderful fruits. Our pupils scored particularly well on the music and literature rounds.

The tenth and final round, worth double points, was a STEM activity: the pupils had 15 minutes to make the tallest free-standing tower from spaghetti and mini marshmallows.

At the end of the quiz, scores were calculated and checked, and there was great anticipation amongst the teams and their supporters as the quizmaster read out the results. Only ten points separated all the teams, and St Bede’s achieved a very creditable fifth place. Huge congratulations for

Toby, Sylvie-Rose, William, Saif, Christian, and Lexi, six truly great Prep masterminds!
