Prep 5 Harvest Festival
Mrs C Harrison – Deputy of Prep
On Tuesday 21st October, Prep 5 led a wonderful Harvest Festival assembly celebrating the theme of gratitude, sharing, and community.
The celebration opened with a lively ‘Welcome to the Autumn Harvest’ dance, performed beautifully by the children. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone for a joyful afternoon of thanksgiving.
The pupils then took everyone on a journey through a creative ‘Supermarket’ scenario, exploring a colourful array of fruits and vegetables from around the world. They learned and shared where different foods come from, linking them to the many countries that represent our diverse school community.
Each child also had the opportunity to showcase their own special “harvest” of fruits or talents. These performances included dance, drama, maths challenges, gymnastics routines, storytelling, violin playing, and even football skills. Every contribution was a celebration of the unique gifts each pupil brings to our community.
To conclude, the children reflected on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—through song and prayer. These meaningful moments reminded everyone that these spiritual fruits within us help us grow together in kindness and gratitude.
The assembly ended with a rousing ‘Harvest Samba’, expressing our thanks for the harvest and our gratitude for having enough food to eat. It was a joyful and heartfelt celebration of both nature’s abundance and the goodness within each of us.
