Victoria Johnston – Prep 1 Class Teacher
Prep 1 have traded their usual routines for a journey across the globe this term as they dive into the vibrant culture of China. As part of our Concept Curriculum lessons, the children have been busy immersing themselves in the traditions and wonders of the East.

The room buzzed with excitement during our Chinese Dragon Dance workshop. They worked as a team, maneuvering magnificent, colorful dragons to the beat of traditional drums. Earlier in the term, the children worked on developing their fine motor skills as they took on the “Chopstick Challenge,” learning the patience and precision required to master this ancient utensil.
Our Prep 1 artists have been observing the unique features of the Giant Panda, producing stunning pencil drawings that capture the gentle nature of China’s national treasure.
At St Bede’s Prep, we believe that introducing global perspectives at a young age is vital. By learning about different countries, our students develop empathy, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of the diverse world they inhabit. These lessons are more than just fun activities; they are the first steps in raising thoughtful, global citizens.
