St Bede’s College Young Writers’ Competition
Celebrating 150 Years of Creativity in Manchester
Calling all budding writers in Years 5 & 6!
St Bede’s College invites you to take part in our Young Writers’ Competition – a celebration of Manchester’s talent, imagination, and community spirit.
Write a poem inspired by our amazing city.
Feel free to interpret the theme of Manchester in your own unique way; there’s no right or wrong answer! You might want to write about Manchester’s exciting past, its buzzing present, or even imagine what the city could be like in the future. Think about the amazing people who have helped shape Manchester into the city it is today — brave campaigners like Emmeline Pankhurst, famous musicians like Noel and Liam Gallagher from Oasis. You could even picture the city through the eyes of artist L.S. Lowry, who painted the busy streets and factory workers of industrial Manchester. Let your poem take us on a journey — maybe down the lively streets of the Northern Quarter, past the Etihad Stadium or Old Trafford, or beside the peaceful canals that wind through the city.
Please submit your work by Friday, 15th November to be in with a chance of securing the grand prize of an iPad Air.
