Careers Roundup – October 2025

Mrs A Boustead – Careers Coordinator

It has been a busy half term in the Careers Hub, with the new all-through careers curriculum launching from Pre-prep to U6, bespoke 1:1 meetings each day with U5 supporting them with their transition into further education and U6 making decisions about which higher education route to follow. A number of students joined the national STEM mentorship programme and others made contact with professionals from, for example, the Royal Society of Chemistry, Louder than War, the Environment Agency, the BBC and the Universities of Washington (US) and Chester (UK) who helped personally advise them on their next steps.

Many students, especially in sixth form and U5, have started to engage in virtual work experience on platforms such as Springpod with a view to enhancing their university applications and some of our L6 students attended the Women in STEM Apprenticeship event at the Bridgewater Hall to find out more about degree apprenticeships in some of the UK’s largest employers such as Siemens, Heineken, Lloyds Bank, EY, Rolls Royce and KPMG.

A reminder to all parents from U3-U6, that you should have recently received a letter about Unifrog, and your ability to sign in as a parent. To make your account, go to unifrog.org/code and input the sign-up code BEHXparents (valid until 13th December 2025).

Finally, calling all parents and guardians – our students from Pre-prep to Upper 6th would love to hear about your careers and the journeys that got you where you are, no matter what it is that you do. If you would would be willing to share your experiences with our students, in person or virtually, please contact me at aboustead@sbcm.co.uk
