This term, Prep 4 are on an exciting journey in art, where in each lesson they are inspired by a different artist from around the world. They enjoyed learning about the Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian who was born in the Netherlands. His father was a drawing teacher and he was determined to be an artist from a young age. Throughout his life, his style gradually changed from realistic to more abstract. His art was related to his studies on spiritual and philosophical themes. He created the term ‘neoplasticism’, which means art using straight lines and clearly defined primary colours. He used pure, glowing colours and expressive brushstrokes. He developed a fascination with line and changes in form.
Prep 4 enjoyed creating some super sketchbook work about Piet and some art work for our growing display about artists from around the world.
