It has been a busy first week back in the History, Politics and Classics Department. Our co-curricular offerings began with a bang. Last Thursday, the Classics Club had a lively session learning about the Roman army. It was delightfully well attended and as can be seen from the photos, the pupils had a great time being put through their paces (literally as their feet were tied together), as they pretended to be Roman Legionaries.
Last Friday, the Historians’ Club made its long awaited return. Mr Power delivered an engaging and insightful talk about The Great Stink of 1858. It was great to some new faces, as well as some familiar faces, and the entire History Department is delighted to be delivering face to face talks again.
Finally, this Tuesday we introduced our newest venture: Political Animals. It was wonderful to see pupils from across the age groups come to B6 to listen to brief presentations about the latest political developments in the UK, the USA and around the world. This week we discussed whether Prime Minister’s Johnson tax raise could prove disastrous for his government, the implications and ethics of the Texas abortion bill and whether Bolsonaro will cling to power in Brazil.
