A sell out show on every night and a protean range of talent on display made this a quite unforgettable production. The audience were transported to Baltimore, USA in 1962 where one girl is determined to challenge colour segregation in spite of the disapproval of almost everyone around her.
The music of the period and the joyous exuberance of youth were perfectly captured by the direction of Miss Smith and the choreography of Mrs Barber, while the costumes chosen by Mrs Alderson perfectly reflected the status and identity of each character. The orchestra, under Mr Davies’ impeccable direction, created a superb context for the young singers and how they rose to the occasion!
