October, though a short month for us due to half term, has been a great one for our pupils. We started the month preparing great displays to show their work all around the school; many of the more-than 500 people who attended Open Morning commented on how inspiring it was to see their achievements being celebrated.
We are absolutely thrilled to see the return of our celebrated department magazine. Our theme for this edition was Historical Mysteries. This volume has been brilliantly edited by Aaron Ankrah and has been causing quite a stir around College - people have been coming up to me wanting to talk about Richard III!
Google for Education's Reference School programme is a prestigious project in which schools and teachers around the world collaborate to digitally transform classrooms and use technology as a teaching resource to improve the learning process. What a wonderful and intense start to our academic year! It was fantastic to welcome the pupils back after their summer holidays. The U3 students' earlier start helped them settle and familiarise themselves with the College facilities in a calm way and they very quickly began to confidently manage the school day.
L6 students volunteer at the Diocese of Salford annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. The theme of the week was to 'Go and tell the priests to build a chapel here'.
It was a morning of immense pride and delight as the Upper Fifth pupils were welcomed back to celebrate their GCSE results.
