A Level
Results Day
2023
Congratulations to our students!
It was a pleasure to welcome back the Upper Sixth leavers this morning to celebrate some fantastic results and the culmination of two years of hard work and effort.
The expected reduction in top grades across the country was apparent, between last summer (when advanced materials were given to students and grade boundaries were more generous) and this summer (when grade boundaries have returned to 2019 pre-pandemic levels). However, despite all the challenges that the Upper Sixth and their teachers have had to overcome, we are delighted that progress made by students has improved at St Bede’s. Impressively, nearly half of all grades were A* to B. Several students gained at least a full grade more than standardised predictions, with some even achieving over two grades higher!
Our aim has always been to provide the best A Level results of which our students are capable and to produce young people of whom we can be justly proud. All students deserve commendation for their results, and of particular interest are:
Marie (A*AA), who is thrilled at the prospect of pursuing her dream of studying Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.
Chloe (A*AB) is delighted to be headed to University College London to study French and Spanish.
Kimberly is pleased to have achieved A*AB and will read Law at the University of Manchester.
Our Head Girl Katy, who attained A*AB and an A in her EPQ, is accepting her offer to pursue Law studies at the University of Leeds.
Special mention must be made of Faolan, who picked up Chemistry late in the Lower Sixth and, by working so diligently, received an A grade. He intends to study Biomedical Science at Queen’s University Belfast.
Michael (A*BB) is overjoyed with his results, which are significantly above his prediction profile. He is looking forward to pursuing a degree in Business Management with Law at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Casper (A*BB) is equally delighted with the excellent results of his commitment and effort, again exceeding expectations, and will study International Business with a Year in Industry at the University of Liverpool.
