Introducing our 2026 Sixth Form Prefect Team
Just before the Christmas break, we officially introduced our new Prefect Team during the College’s Celebration Assembly. I am very pleased to now present these student leaders to the wider Bedian community.
Having seen their initial transition into these roles, I have every confidence in the dedication and integrity they will bring to their responsibilities in the months ahead.
To mark their appointment, I asked each prefect to share a few thoughts on their journey so far in the Sixth Form. Their responses reveal not only their individual strengths but also a sincere commitment to the values of St. Bede’s. It is heartening to see such a strong sense of belonging reflected in their words.
I am sure you will join me in supporting this excellent group of young leaders as they begin their tenure.
Jayden B Head Boy
Hello, my name is Jayden and I am very grateful to have been appointed Head Boy. I look forward to offering guidance and support to everyone in the college and want to have a constructive impact on the rest of the school. I have been a Bedian since Lower Fourth and am thrilled with my decision to remain at St Bede’s for Sixth Form as the community is very friendly and welcoming. Unlike other schools, due to the size of the Sixth Form, I get to be closer not only to my friends but also to other students in Lower and Upper Sixth. We support each other during and outside lessons, increasing our friendship bond while learning in a positive environment.
I am currently studying Physics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Chemistry alongside an EPQ which investigates aerodynamics in planes. I am hoping to study Aerospace at University. Outside of my studies, I am involved in the College Orchestra where I play the clarinet, and MUN where students gather on a Friday lunchtime and debate on behalf of their chosen country.
Malaya F Head Girl
Hello, my name is Malaya and I am extremely grateful to be the Head Girl this year. I am currently studying A levels in Psychology, Drama and Theology, as well as an EPQ on dance, which I am extremely passionate about. I hope to go on to university to study Psychology further and make a career of it. I love all things Performing Arts and attend a youth group every Friday where we rehearse for an annual musical. As well as that, I love going to the theatre to watch musicals. I have been a student at St Bede’s since Upper Third and staying here for Sixth Form was without a doubt the best decision I have made. The environment within the Sixth Form is so friendly and everyone gets along so well. My favourite thing is the freedom we are given as well as the support we get when needed. I also love all the friends I have made or got closer with since being here.
Connor DG Deputy Head Boy and U4 Support Prefect
Hello, my name is Connor and I love playing and watching football. My favourite football team is Man Utd, whom I spend most of weekends either watching at Old Trafford or seeing play away on TV with my family. On Sundays I love playing football for my team, who I have been with since U9. I adore playing golf with my dad and brother as well as my mates; I try to play every weekend. I am very thankful to have been appointed as Deputy Head Boy. I have been at St Bede’s since the Upper Third and have really enjoyed my time here, hence why I came here for Sixth Form. I am studying Business, Physical Education, Psychology A levels as well as an EPQ which is all about how technology has changed golf clubs. I am finding the Sixth Form brilliant because the people are great to be around and it is a really good environment to be in. I would love to go to Liverpool University and hopefully study something in sports. I aim to pursue a career in sports, possibly something linked to football.
Matilda Mhaka Deputy Head Girl & U5 Support Prefect
Hello, my name is Matilda and I am thankful to have been appointed as Deputy Head Girl. I have been a student at St Bedes since I was in the Upper Third and I truly enjoyed every aspect of my school experience, so it was no surprise that I decided to stay for the Sixth Form. I really like the independence and freedom we are given; despite there not being a lot of us, there is a strong sense of community and a constant warm and friendly environment. I am currently studying Drama, Theology and English Language alongside an EPQ based on the reliability of eyewitness testimonies in court. After A levels I would like to hopefully travel abroad for university (preferrably Switzerland or Cape Town) and study Law and then eventually become a criminal lawyer. Outside of school I enjoy playing tennis, baking (fun fact: I used to own my own bakery business during lockdown), arts & crafts and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to the year ahead and acting on my new responsibilities.
