The St Bede’s Summer Theatre School is an immersive summer course offering young performers the opportunity to explore voice work, characterisation, musical theatre, comedy and Shakespeare.
Throughout the week, students will take part in high-energy, practical drama activities designed to strengthen their confidence, creativity and performance skills—all while having plenty of fun.
It is the perfect opportunity to meet new people, develop acting skills and create theatre in a supportive and inspiring environment.
A week of theatre-making
Students will explore a varied programme of practical workshops, ensemble activities and performance techniques.
Voice and movement
Develop vocal confidence, physical expression and presence on stage through energetic practical exercises.
Characterisation
Discover how actors use imagination, movement and voice to create convincing and memorable characters.
Musical theatre
Combine acting, movement and music while exploring the energy and storytelling of musical theatre.
Comedy
Explore comic timing, improvisation and ensemble performance in a lively and encouraging setting.
Shakespeare
Bring Shakespeare’s language and characters to life through accessible, imaginative and practical performance work.
Final showcase
Put the week’s learning into practice in a special performance for parents and families on Friday afternoon.
Meet your course leader
Mr Jonathan Dickson
Director of Performances at St Bede’s College
Tuition is led by Mr Jonathan Dickson, Director of Performances at St Bede’s College.
Mr Dickson is a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and holds a Master’s degree in Classical Acting. Students will benefit from his professional expertise and extensive experience of directing and developing young performers.
The course will provide an encouraging environment in which students can experiment, take creative risks and build their confidence, whatever their previous level of experience.
