Winners of U11 Manchester Schools
A huge congratulations to our Prep Rounders team, who were crowned Team Manchester Excel Rounders Champions after an incredible evening of competition at St Bede’s.
Competing in a round-robin tournament, the girls won their first three matches to secure a place in a thrilling final game against Manchester High School for Girls. With temperatures soaring and a gold medal on the line, the team showed remarkable determination, resilience and teamwork throughout.
Batting first, the girls delivered some fantastic performances at the plate, scoring an impressive 8 rounders through powerful hitting and committed running. They then took to the field knowing they faced some excellent batters. Through strong communication, teamwork and determination, they gave everything they had to defend their score.
When the final whistle blew, both teams were level on 8 rounders. The overall result would come down to points accumulated across the earlier matches. After an anxious wait, the announcement finally came…

AJIS athletics
We entered a Prep 5 and a Prep 6 team into the AJIS athletics competition held at Longford Park in Stretford. It was so nice to see all of our pupils trying really hard in what is a tough competition. We had a great spot by the finish line; Miss Sharp and I have just about recovered from the noise they made cheering on their teammates! A very special well done to NJ (Prep 6), who won the 80m sprint. He was very impressive in his victory, just missing out on the AJIS record. He is definitely one to watch in the future.
Sports day
Sports day is a great way to end the year. The pupils are really excited and keen to show their parents how well they are doing in their PE lessons. The PE department would like to give a special thanks to our pupil helpers. They are really enthusiastic and encouraging with all the pupils. Prep 6 help with the Infants, and L5th help with the Juniors. They are great ambassadors for the school.
