Lower Sixth Ted Ed Talks

Dr A McMonagle – Head of Sixth Form

Lower Sixth students have experienced a series of short courses focused on establishing good study habits, exploring their own emotional resilience, and learning how to be leaders. They also completed a course developed by the University of Oxford: the Oxford Character Project. This educational initiative is designed to cultivate a new generation of wise, ethical, and principled leaders. By balancing academic competence with strong character, the project helps students become self-aware, confident changemakers who are fully prepared for university and life beyond.
Following this, students researched and developed their TED-Ed Talk skills, investigating topics of their own choice and delivering talks in lessons. A final competition in front of an audience of students and governors took place, with Hamza, Vinanya, Bryndon, Connor, Vincent, Ryan, Youssif, Malaya, and Matilda all making the final.
Hamza came in third place for his talk on “Procrastination and How to Avoid It.” In second place, for his inspiring speech called “I am a Work in Progress,” was Bryndon. And in first place, for an engaging talk which captured the hearts of her audience called “Making Mistakes is Important,” was our Head Girl, Malaya. All of the students did a wonderful job and should be incredibly proud of their achievements.
